I had mentioned the other day how much everyone always raves about Ireland and all it has to offer. I admit, at first I was skeptical, but being in Ireland was unlike anything else. I couldn’t even describe it if I wanted to, but there was something so warm (ironically, since it was cold and rainy every day) about the country that left me wanting more. Badly. Danielle and Kyle felt the same way. So…
We changed our flights, rented a car and toured Ireland for an extra week.
You heard that right. While walking in Dublin, the three of us decided to spontaneously extend our trip by seven days. Everything fell into place, our flights worked out perfectly, we were able to rent a car under the age of 25 and off we went!
We were set-up with a little Volkswagen Polo and ready to hit the open road. It was so exhilarating and energizing being spontaneous, I loved it. It was quite therapeutic to drive, not have any plans and just soak in the surroundings. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I mean, how many places can you see green for miles, stone fences for days, mountains in the distance, drive on the edge of cliffs and be frequently stopped by livestock crossing the road? None that I can think of! Although I received a loving, “Jillian Therese!” from my Mom (sorry, Mom!) after I told her what we had done, it was all worth it. Mostly because of moments like these:
This action shot still leaves me crunched over in fits of laughter and tears. When have you ever seen spray-painted sheep running down the highway? The best part? This was not the last time that this happened. Oh, Ireland.
Stay tuned for all the details of our road trip – there are plenty of stories to go around.
