Our road trip was off to a great start and we headed west across Ireland towards Galway. We accidentally went a little bit too far and stumbled across the adorable town of Salt Hill, which was absolutely amazing. As we got closer to the coast you could smell the salt in the air and feel the wind coming off the water. Heavenly.
All of us were so excited to hit the ocean and see it up close for the first time, we were smiling from ear to ear and taking pictures like we were Queens (and Kings) of the world. Despite the constant rain, we walked up and down the paths, explored the swimming and diving cove – where people were actually swimming! – and checked out the local shops and cafes.
Next stop was Galway, a quick drive away where we explored the streets, shops, pubs and grub. I invested in a Claddagh ring, purchased by Danielle to prevent me from having bad luck (phew, that was a close one). The city itself was very pretty, but not one of my favorite towns that we saw. I think it was due to the fact that the town was relatively empty when we got there and most people were at home eating dinner. Bummer.
Or maybe, with my recent obsession with the ocean, I just preferred this part of Galway more…
Can you blame me? Look at those wooden boats! After our trip around Salt Hill and Galway, we decided it was time to find a place to sleep for the night. So, we drove around looking for a hotel to bum their wifi, enjoy their hotel bar and sleep in their parking lot. Oh how I wish I was kidding..
Behold! Our home on wheels. This is basically a perfect picture of three broke college students traveling through Europe. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. On the road again in the morning – Cheers!
