Braun Family Conquers Praha

Over Halloween weekend I was oh so lucky to have my family visit from good ole’ Chicago, Illinois. The lovely ladies who visited included my Mom, my sister and two aunts. My sister’s Red Head even made it here a few days later. Company overload – it was awesome. However, Prague wasn’t the only place the ladies conquered, they also visited Budapest and Vienna before arriving in Prague. Then, my sister Elissa and her boy continued to Berlin and Amsterdam. That is one well traveled family!

Aren’t they cute? The Braun ladies and I hit up all the Prague hot spots including but not limited to: Petrin Hill, Charles Bridge, the Lennon Wall, Old Town Square, the markets, Vysehrad, Powder Tower, Prague Castle/St. Vitus, you name it, we saw it. This self-guided tour of the city also included seeing the Astronomical Clock on the hour. Two words: anti-climatic (or is that one word…?). Thank goodness Elissa got the whole thing on video – including our reactions. Can’t wait to see that gem.

I was so excited/distracted with my family being here that I only took about 20 pictures the whole time they were here. As Elissa would say, I was living up to my, “always talking, always touching” motto instead. Luckily, I had 4 other ladies who captured the entire weekend for me. Looking forward to the giant picture-swap this holiday season.

This trip can’t go without mentioning our gathering with our extended family from the Czech Republic. After some 40 or so years, our families were reunited again in Prague and it was one of the neatest things to bring our family together from across the globe. I think all of us were excited to learn about each other’s families, swap photos from decades ago and enjoy one another’s company for an afternoon. That is definitely something I will never forget.

After few hours after the Braun ladies headed back to the states, Red Head arrived. Rather convenient timing, don’t you think? Haha. We all had fun repeating the city tour and also making Cole take pictures of Elissa and I or forcing him into solo beauty shots. Too funny. I think the pair of them definitely enjoyed their visit, especially Prague Castle. I can’t think of a more beautiful, old and romantic city (sorry, Paris).

Overall, it was one of the best, most exciting and exhausting weekends I have had in Prague so far. It was so great to have my family all together in the country from once we came and to see the city again through a tourist’s eye. The week with them was just what I needed and gave me a little taste of home to carry me through to the holidays. A big thank you those special ladies and red heads in my life! I can’t wait until we all plan our next trip together.

    Hi, Jillian —

Loved reading your blog. Also, haven’t seen that many BLONDES in one place for a long time. Gorgeous – every one of you. Your “tour” brought back a bunch of great memories of our trips to Praha, especially those connected w/Sokol. Have you been to the Strahov Stadium? I understand it will be (or has been) torn down. What a loss. Bernie and I drilled there w/thousands in 1994. Still brings us a thrill to think about it. Your familiarity w/such a beautiful city will stay with you forever ….. and you’re right — better than Paree.

Hope to see you shortly after you get back. luv, Ellie and Bernie

Hi Ellie, thanks for reading! We indeed had a great time here all together. I hope to be able to come back here to this wonderful city one day. I have had the chance to be to Strahov Stadium for a hockey game earlier this semester, I had no idea that they are going to tear it down. What a shame. Looking forward to seeing you over the holidays!
