The 85th Annual Academy Awards… or the Oscars

Catch All

I can not have a blog under my name and not discuss what happened on Sunday: The 85th Annual Academy Awards, which this year were strictly referred to as The Oscars. Just to break it down, The Oscars are my World Series, my Super Bowl, my Stanley Cup. Why I enjoy watching hours upon hours of strangers sitting in auditorium seats getting golden figurines of bald men is a mystery to me.

Of course, The Oscars also can’t be discussed without the age old question, “Who are you wearing?” If you didn’t watch the seventeen hours of red carpet, pre-red carpet and pre-pre-red carpet, I’ve got you covered. Here are the four ladies you need to know about: Halle Berry, Sally Field, Charlize Theron and Naomi Watts.

Oscars 2013

Stripes on stripes: Halle Berry rocked the Versace and those black and gold stripes were in all of the right places. Also bonus points for being sexy without being too saucy.

Mrs. Doubtfire: Sally Field looked SO great in Valentino and the pop of color was bold and unexpected, not to mention that stunning train. If I look that great at 66, somebody please give me a pat on the back.

White wedding: If you can pull off a pixie cut, you can definitely pull off white at The Oscars. Charlize Theron did just that a peplum Dior dress. You go girl.

Quirk factor: Naomi Watts wins points for the bizarre-ness of this Armani Privé dress. It’s futuristic yet sleek and chic. Plus, I’m a sucker for some sparkle.
