Cause for Celebration!

Catch All

Remember that good news I was alluding to last week? Well, it’s time to share.*

For the past several months, I have been spending every Monday night at Second City with our improv troupe, Uncomfortable Alphabet. Almost a year ago, I decided to sign up for improv classes through the Second City Training Center hoping to meet some new people and have fun while doing so. Never in a million years did I think it would take off like it has but I couldn’t be more grateful.

The Second City

So what’s the big news? Last week, I auditioned for the Second City Coached Ensembles, a show made up of four improv troupes who earn a multi-week run show. And, I MADE IT! I am shocked, excited, terrified and all of the other emotions but mostly extremely ecstatic.

If that weren’t enough, I’ve been working with some local comedians and have booked Uncomfortable Alphabet an additional five shows in Chicago this spring. This whirlwind is overwhelming but in the best way. If you’re in town, feel free to stop by any of our shows!

  • Friday, Feb. 14 at midnight (de Maat Theater at Second City): Uncomfortable Alphabet will be performing at Midnight Melt.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. (Sylvie’s): Uncomfortable Alphabet will be performing at Last Laugh Improv Show.
  • Tuesday, March 4 at 8 p.m. (e.t.c. Theater at Second City): Uncomfortable Alphabet will be performing a fully improvised 45-minute graduation show.
  • Thursday, March 6 at 10:30 p.m. (Donny’s Skybox Theater at Second City): Coached Ensemble performance at Second City.
  • Thursday, March 20 at 10:30 p.m. (Donny’s Skybox Theater at Second City): Coached Ensemble performance at Second City.
  • Friday, March 21 at midnight (de Maat Theater at Second City): Uncomfortable Alphabet will be performing at Midnight Melt.
  • Thursday, March 27 at 10:30 p.m. (Donny’s Skybox Theater at Second City): Coached Ensemble performance at Second City.
  • Saturday, June 21 at 8 p.m. (de Maat Theater at Second City): Uncomfortable Alphabet will be opening for Second City’s house ensemble, Twisty!

*I apologize for this very self-serving post but I am too excited to keep this to myself.
