Over on Choose Chicago yesterday, I added some photos of street art around the city. The idea of street art has always fascinated me. Using urban spaces to create intriguing, eye-catching art will never be ugly to me – there’s (almost) always a reason behind it and it causes conversation. Just look at the cultural phenomenon, Banksy or the latest controversy of the World Cup graffiti.
The images above are from outside a little bar in the heart of Bucktown on Oakley and McLean. The entire wall is filled with sketches and paintings from talented local artists to create this large, jumbled yet cohesive piece. Thanks to some Twitter suggestions, I now have a nice list of places to check out around the city. Add it to the summer to-do list!
